Some tips for dealing with over-'cading:
  • Look at the relevant suburb page and check out the barricade plan.
  • If designated entry points are overcaded, grab a crowbar and start de-'cading.
  • Graffiti locations so people know how far to 'cade.
  • Tell people what they should 'cade to on certain buildings.

If you have free running try to find a building connected to where you want to go that isnt so heavily barricaded. These buildings are usually ones that arent of any value, like warehouses and non NT office buildings.

As a new user I find the lack of buildings one can enter extremely annoying and makes the game far less exciting than others. It should be easier for survivors to enter such buildings. As a new user I won't have free running. Staying alive long enough to get such a skill is difficult to say the least. Oh well, I guess that is part of the fun, still if there was an easier way to enter it would make the game more noob friendly

How do you get inside? Perhaps you could, I dunno, read what I said in my earlier post?

...

Crowbars. Alright? Get a crowbar.

You can't let yourself get down to 10AP then start thinking about where you're going to sleep. You have to keep track of any Very Strong buildings you pass and if you still haven't found any when you get down to 20 or so you've got to make one.
It does mean you can't do so much fighting because you spend the whole time scurrying from one safe place to another but that's all part of the realism.

You could also try moving to a more abondoned town then get revived.

a good idea if you dont want to get pissed of over bcading? be a scout. they start with free running, and they are the easiest ppl to level up. Consider that idea. Or u could be a dick(sorry for language if thats frowned upon) and pk for a half hour on wounded survivors to get free running. after that you can kill everyone in the over caded place for being @$$holes. ive tried it, and it made me get that warm feeling inside.

The "crowbar" hint is all well and good.

Now, if I could just get into a building to find one! :-|

I had the same problem when I first started. It seems that people enjoy overcadeing just in case a mob of several hundred zeds come out of no where. You definately want to get freerunning ASAP. That made life at least liveable. Esp with people cadeing PD's and Hospitals to EHB when the people that need them the most, Newbies, can't get into them. I think maybe some of the barracade plans need to be revised to make things a little nicer for the new people? Just a thought people.

I agree with the above poster, for newbies its incredibly frustrating with barricading plans that prevent them getting into any resource buildings. theres no way these newbies can get ammo or flak jackets to increase their survival chances while trying to get the exp for free running.. the barricading plan used in some areas leaves all Police fire stations and NT buildings VS barricaded and its much easier to level in these areas. (I think this is called the Unified barricading plan or something similar) granted the buildings occasionally get broken into but beause they're accessible theres usually a strong force there to repel invaders.

Well.  Myself is a noob (playing for 3 days now) and yet I've managed.

The WIKI is VERY helpful.  Found the information I wanted (Dulton) and found a PD station that was accessable.  Just read the wiki.  I know what everyone doesn't want to read the wiki - but honestly - to make sure you're gonna last awhile, you have to grab information.  The first day I was out there I wondered all 50 of my AP, so I read the wiki.  Understood what should/shouldn't be done.  You COULD find your own way around stuff - but that'd be a waste of resources for AKF's n' crap.

I like the way Dulton was set up.  Now other cities I can't speak for -but no problems starting out there.  Just slow as hell gaining XP Sad

That's probably because Dulston sees almost no zombies for most of the year, although the Second Big Bash just rolled in so there should be zombies a plenty in the area. As for barricade plans, if you stay in the sparsely populated suburbs it's not as much of a problem as it is in places like Dulston, West Grayside, or Darvall Heights. Barricade plans are generally made and enforced only by a very few groups, and usually in suburbs that rarely actually see zombies(which I always found a little funny).

Don't get Free Roaming. Spending 2 AP just to go outside & kill some zombo's is bull****. Just carry either a crowbar or a fire ax. If some dumbsizz blocks your entry with an extremely heavily barricaded, then bash it down. Wink Problem solved!
